Android device owners can now enjoy Amazon Instant Prime Video content on their smartphones and tablets.
Following a lengthy period of unavailability, Amazon has now announced Instant Prime Video is coming to Android devices as part of an update to the existing Amazon app.
Thanks to an update to the Amazon App for Android, Android users will be able to shop Amazon online and get access to the Instant Prime Video streaming service – if you’re paying for the membership of course.
After updating the existing app, those wishing to access Instant Prime Video can install the player app via the Amazon Appstore.
“Tens of millions of our customers have installed the Amazon app on their Android phones in order to enjoy the ease and convenience of shopping with Amazon on the go,” said Xavier Garambois, VP of EU Retail at Amazon. “Now the latest Amazon App for Android combines that award-winning mobile shopping experience with access to Amazon’s digital products and services, including unlimited streaming of tens of thousands of movies and TV episodes at no additional cost for Prime members.”

You’ll need to pay the £5.99 per month membership fee or fork out the £79 per year Amazon Prime and Instant Video bundle to access the streaming service.
Just like with Netflix, your progress in a movie or TV series is saved across all your Amazon Prime Instant Video enabled devices, thanks to Amazon’s Whispersync technology.
Other Prime Instant Video compatible devices include smart TVs, PS4, Xbox One and the Kindle Fire TV.
