Barclaycard has begun rolling out its bPay contactless payment wristband to coincide with the London transport network's new contactless payment system.
Starting today, you can make contactless payments for underground journeys through the UK's capital. If you're one of the 50 percent of Londoners who doesn't have an NFC-equipped payment card to take advantage of this handy feature, Barclaycard has just the solution.
Unveiled back in June, the bPay band is a neat contactless payment method that takes the form of an NFC-equipped wristband. It works at any contactless payment point (including a number of shops), allowing you to link any UK Visa or MasterCard debit or credit card to the band and make payments of up to £20 without having to whip out your wallet.
As Barclaycard points out, the bPay band will also avoid the new problem of 'card clash' for those who have multiple contactless payment cards stored together in their wallet.
Barclaycard is rolling out its new wrist-mounted payment method by offering a free bPay wristband to the first 10,000 customers to sign up. Just head on over to the bPay website to register your interest, and you'll be in with a chance of snagging one.
The lucky 10,000 will receive their bands some time in September. Once activated, you'll be able to use it straight away.
