Fashion retailer Net-A-Porter has become the UK’s first third-party seller of Google Glass, as it launches a special range of design-led wearables.
With Glass having been introduced to the UK earlier this year through Google’s official channels, online retailer Net-A-Porter is now offering five different pairs of Diane von Furstenberg designed Google Glass headsets.
Integrating the heads-up display loving device, the DVF Made for Glass range are built around more stylised eyewear. Each pair of DVF smart specs comes with traditional lenses and a sunglasses frame.
“We're so excited to be the only third party retailers to bring Google Glass to UK customers”, Net-A-Porter President, Alison Loehnis said.
“We first saw them at the Diane von Furstenberg's spring/summer ’13 runway show – it was the perfect balance of technology and fashion which is at the heart of everything we do.
“Our tech-savvy women want things first, they embrace newness across all categories – Google Glass allows her to see the world in a new way and gives her instant access to information.”
It’s not just the ladies who are being offered some fashion-conscious Google Glass options either. The retailer’s male arm – Mr Porter – is now offering British gents the opportunity to snap up three different hues of Titanium Google Glass designs (below).
Available in white, black and orange, these premium glasses pair the traditional Glass elements with high-end frames and a UV lens clip.
While each addition to the DVF Made of Glass collection will set wannabe owners back £1,250, the men’s Titanium line are priced at £1,120 apiece. All Google Glass options come with a mono earbud and case.
Despite being readily available for purchase, Google Glass remains in something of a public Beta mode, with all existing models falling under the banner of the Glass Explorer Programme.
