If you thought the Apple Watch was expensive, think again, the company’s original timepiece has just hit eBay with a £1,700 asking price.
Decades before the world of wearable tech kicked into overdrive, Apple produced its first watch, a promotional product with a traditional Quartz movement.
Now, looking to cash in on the imminent arrival of the iPhone maker’s first smartwatch, one eBay user is looking to flog not just one, but two of the collectors items.
The wristwatch, issued as a promo piece in 1992, features no Taptic Feedback, Digital Crown or Sapphire Glass display. What it can do, however is tell the time and make any hipster within a 20-mile radius weep with envy.
Much like its modern sibling, the original Apple wearable is not easy on your wallet.
The watch, tipped as a ‘rare collectors piece’ has been listed alongside a $2,499.99 (£1,708) ‘Buy it Now’ asking price.
That’s not where the fees end, however. Add in postage costs and import charges to the UK, and the piece of historic giveaway will set you back around £2,205.
For that, you could buy seven entry-level Apple Watch Sport models, and still have sufficient change for a couple of spare bands.
