Apple is going to launch the long-rumoured 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display as soon as next week, a new report suggests.
According to The Michael Report, which cites sources familiar with the matter, Apple will show off the new notebook at its Apple Watch launch event on March 9.
The event, dubbed ‘Spring Forward’ by Apple, will take place at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts in San Francisco, and is set to showcase the Apple Watch, due for release in April.
The article describes the information as ‘verified’ and ‘highly credible’, although declines to reveal whom the sources actually are.
Late last year, we heard that the 12-inch Retina MacBook Air would be landing at some point in 2015, with mass production purportedly scheduled for Q1 this year.
If that information was true, these latest rumours of a March launch for the device might be worth considering.
Those same rumours also pointed to the fact that MacBook Air production would take place alongside the Apple Watch production. This means there’s no good reason why Apple couldn’t share the love between both devices at next week’s event.

Reports tip the new MacBook Air as carrying Intel’s Broadwell processors, as well as showing off a new chassis that brings down both thickness and weight.
It's also been suggested that the notebook will use a reversible Type C USB port, as well a replacement for the MagSafe charging solution.
Apple currently offers two MacBook Air form factors, namely 11-inch and 13-inch. Neither ship with a Retina display.
This new form factor could help bridge the gap, revamp the MacBook Air line-up, and offer more choice for size-conscientious customers.
