Apple's first wearable, the Apple Watch, will feature a Power Reserve mode to help extend its battery life, according to a report that emerged over the weekend.
One of the key concerns surrounding the Apple Watch ahead of its March 9 unveiling is how well its battery will perform. With Tim Cook himself hinting at all-day battery life, it seems as if we'll have another annoyingly thirsty wearable on our hands (quite literally).
According to The New York Times, the Apple Watch will come with an as-yet-unannounced Power Reserve mode. This will run the watch on relatively low energy, displaying only the time. In other words, it will turn this expensive smartwatch into a dumb old regular watch.
As part of the Apple Watch's infamously painful birthing, Apple apparently experimented with various methods of extending battery life, even including building a solar charger into the watch itself.
In the end, it seems as if you'll have to return the Apple Watch to an induction charger come the end of each day - relatively sophisticated, yes, but annoyingly frequent all the same.

Other bits of information to emerge from the report include the fact that Apple's engineers, in wishing to take the Apple Watch out for a spin without spilling the beans, resorted to putting it in a case that made it look like a Samsung Gear watch.
We also get confirmation of an earlier report that claimed that Apple had experimented with and failed to implement advanced health sensors into the first generation of Apple Watch.
We'll see the fruits of Apple's apparently considerable labours on March 9.
