After months of waiting Apple has officially announced that the eagerly awaited Apple Watch release date will be held on April 24.
Avoiding a collision course with the April 10 Galaxy S6 release date, the Apple Watch's arrival will mark the iPhone maker's first foray into the wearables space.
Set to go head-to-head with the Android Wear likes of the Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R, the Apple Watch will launch simultaneously in nine markets across the globe.
Joining the UK and U.S. on the day-one rollout list, Australia, France, Japan, China, Germany, Hong Kong and Canada will also be afforded first dibs on the Pebble Time challenger.
“Apple Watch is the most personal device we have ever created. It’s not just with you, it’s on you,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said in unveiling the device.
He added: “We designed Apple Watch to appeal to different people with different tastes. As well as being a beautiful object, the Apple Watch is the most advanced timepiece ever created.”

With the Apple Watch release date now confirmed, wannabe owners will have to decide which of the dozens of iterations of the techy timepiece to plump for.
There will be three separate Apple Watch models available. The entry-level Apple Watch Sport pairs an aluminium body with a rubber strap while the standard Apple Watch adopts a more robust stainless steel build.
At the higher end of the spectrum, the Apple Watch Edition boasts and 18-karat gold body and can be paired with all manner of metal and leather bands.
Each of the three models will be offered in two body sizes – 38mm and 42mm – as well a host of colour and strap combinations.
Running a reworked version of the company's iOS operating system, the Apple Watch pairs the usual array of call and message handling capabilities with a host of fitness tracking credentials, including an integrated heart rate sensor.
Ahead of the April 24 release, Apple Watch pre-orders will kick off on April 10.
If you're planning to snap an Apple Watch on day one, you better get saving the pennies.
With the base, 38mm Apple Watch Sport having been handed an already lofty $349 price tag, costs rise all the way to the $10,000 top of the line Apple Watch Edition.
