Huawei has confirmed plans to echo Apple and launch its first smartwatch in three distinct flavours, sports, classic and premium.
With the Apple Watch set to be introduced in a trio of guises (and a total of 38 varying configurations) next month, Huawei has revealed it will mimic the iPhone maker by introducing its own Huawei Watch in three varying forms.
Further copying its illustrious rival, Huawei has confirmed its three Huawei Watch options will focus on the sports, standard and luxurious market sectors.
“We will have different versions,” Yang Yong, Huawei’s Vice President of Product Management said while discussing the company’s recently unveiled Huawei Watch.
Speaking exclusively with TrustedReviews he added: “We will have a sports version, a normal version and a premium version.”
Having debuted at Mobile World Congress last week, the Huawei Watch was only shown off in one form, with a stainless steel body paired with a sapphire crystal glass display and Google’s Android Wear OS.
This high-end collection of materials was shown in a selection of colour schemes and with various leather and metal strap options. It is currently unclear if this is the classic or premium model referred to by Yong.
Despite showing off its first smartwatch ahead of a release ‘later this summer’, Huawei has yet to offer a glimpse of its sports-centric timepiece.
While Yong failed to offer up further details on the differences between the trio of smartwatch options, he suggested all three, like the Apple Watch, would be built around a single design ideal.
“These are all done in the classic watch style,” he told us.
“Our Huawei Watch is very much like a classic watch, and different from the current electronic smartwatches from Sony, LG and Samsung.
“From what we’ve heard from consumers, the smartwatch must first be a very good looking watch. You can see this in our design and materials.”

Huawei has yet to hand its debut smartwatch an official price tag, although early reports have suggested the timepiece could set wannabe owners back as much as $1,000 (£670).
The Apple Watch will hit the UK on April 24, with the eagerly awaited wearable to be available from £299 – for the 38mm, aluminium bodied Apple Watch Sport. Prices rise to a massive £13,500 for the top-of-the-line 18-carat gold Apple Watch Edition.
