Huawei does not want to be left out of the smartwatch race, with the Chinese manufacturer confirming it will launch its first Android Wear device next year.
With LG and Samsung having already launched their first Android Wear watches, and with the likes of Motorola, Sony and Asus having confirmed devices are on their way to retailers next month, Huawei will enter the smartwatch race in 2015.
Speaking with Engadget during IFA 2014 this week, CEO of Huawei’s consumer group, Richard Yu, confirmed the company’s 2015 Android Wear plans.
Although the Huawei head offered few further details on the upcoming device, he added that the smartwatch will be “innovative and beautiful”.
Already bringing the fight to the competition, Yu added that the Huawei watch will be “more beautiful” than Samsung’s recently unveiled Samsung Gear S device.
Although Huawei has yet to release a dedicated smartwatch, the company has already made efforts in the wearables space.
Announced back at MWC 2014, the company’s innovative, Bluetooth headset incorporating, Huawei Talkband B1 wristwear recently launched in the UK.
Although Yu failed to narrow down the company’s Android Wear launch plans, we would be surprised if the Huawei watch didn’t make it to market early in the year. As such, we would suggest you keep an eye on CES for new devices.
