Apple Store down ahead of iPhone 6 launch event

Apple has new products on the way. We all know it and now the Cupertino-based company has confirmed it as the Apple Store goes down ahead of the iPhone 6 launch event.

With the company’s latest smartphone set to be formally unveiled later this evening, September 9, Apple has taken its store offline. For those unfamiliar with Apple launches, the Apple Store always goes down just before new devices are added.

"We'll be back" a note on the Apple Store homepage reads. It adds: "We're busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon."

While Apple has yet to offer any formal confirmation of what new products could be hitting its virtual shelves this evening, leaks and rumours have pointed to a collection of new devices.

As well as the iPhone 6, a larger, iPhone phablet offering is also being tipped to a formal unveiling.

What’s more, Apple is expected to introduce its first wearable this evening. The long rumoured iWatch is believed to be given its formal bow at the San Francisco-based event.

Although Apple might not release these devices immediately after launch, it is expected that iPhone 6 pre-orders will kick off through the digital store.
