Apple has joined the wearables race and its wants you to join too, but not just yet. The Apple Watch release date as ‘early 2015’.
Meaning the wearable won’t be available until after the lucrative Christmas period, the Apple Watch release date will give the rival Samsung Gear Live and Motorola Moto 360 a little breathing room. For now at least.
"Apple Watch is the most personal device we've ever created,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said while unveiling the device. "It's also a comprehensive health and fitness device."
Despite hyping up the device, Apple has disappointed many by forcing us to wait for its device. He added: “Apple Watch will be available early next year.”
Discussing the watch’s capabilities he stated: “With every revolutionary product a breakthrough in user interface was required.
“What we didn't do was take the iPhone and shrink the user interface and strap it on your wrist."
Instead the Apple Watch features a bespoke, iOS themed UI, controlled by a physical button and a ‘digital crown’ – that the twisty bit.
The Apple Watch features list includes everything from acting as an Apple TV control to being a remote viewfinder for your iPhone’s camera.
The Apple Watch was formally unveiled alongside the iPhone 6 and larger iPhone 6 Plus.
The wearable will be available in three guises, Apple Watch, Apple Watch sport and the premium Apple Watch Edition.
Apple Watch prices will start at $349 in the US. UK pricing is still to be confirmed.
