Affordable UK network provider giffgaff has confirmed plans to stock the iPhone 6 prior to the phone’s formal unveiling.
With Apple widely expected to launch its next-generation smartphone later this evening, September 9, giffgaff has jumped the gun, confirming it will offer the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 rival on an unlocked basis.
giffgaff is the first UK network to openly outline plans to stock the iPhone 5S follow-on. The company has gone as far as to reference the iPhone 6 by name despite the device having yet to formally enter the realms of reality.
A spokesperson for the network stated: “I’m pleased to confirm that giffgaff will be selling the iPhone 6 handset unlocked and at a very competitive price.”
They added: “As soon as we have pricing information, we’ll be in touch, but as I say it will be competitively priced and will be available with our fantastic value goody bags.”
The iPhone 6 is set to be unveiled this evening with an all new form factor and a larger, 4.7-inch display in tow.
Set to run Apple’s incoming iOS 8 mobile operating system, the handset has been tipped to launch alongside the company’s first wearable – the much mooted iWatch.
Finalised iPhone 6 specs are still up in the air, with an A8 dual-core processor expected to feature alongside 1GB of RAM, a Sapphire Glass coating and improved camera optics.
