Madden 15 available for pre-purchase
Legions of Xbox One owners desperate to get their hands on the Madden NFL 15 game as soon the release date rolls around can now part with their cash and pre-download the iconic American football simulator.
The recently-announced (and now seemingly live) pre-purchase functionality allows users to download and store the game on their console and begin playing immediately when games are released, instead of enduring the wait for large files to download on release day.
Madden hits the digital shelves on August 26, but today's news means pre-downloaders can safely stow the game on their Xbox One now. They just won’t be able to play it until Microsoft lifts the embargo at 12:01am BST on Tuesday.
At Gamescom earlier this month, Microsoft announced that pre-ordering would finally be arriving on the Xbox One, in September to tie in with the releases of Forza Horizon and FIFA 15.
On today’s evidence it seems Microsoft has decided to let the feature out to play a little early, with the arrival of Madden 15. The price is displayed in US dollars on the Xbox.com store listing, but Brits can sign in to their Xbox Live accounts to see the regional pricing and hand over the sterling.
The news comes as EA rolls out early access to the game for members of its new EA Access subscription initiative, which gives Xbox One owners the opportunity to play the publisher's top titles for a monthly or yearly fee.
Those gamers are currently able to download Madden 15 as a 'trial' and play it ahead of the release date, but are limited to just 6 hours of gameplay during that period.
