Apple's Covent Garden store was largest in the world when it opened in 2010
Apple is gearing up for the impending launch of its much–hyped iPhone 6. But as well as its forthcoming smartphone, the company is also planning on opening its largest retail space to date.
According to Edgar Daily, Apple’s first Middle East store in Dubai will also be the biggest in the world.
The shop will take pride of place in the huge Mall of the Emirates, with job postings seen in local media. Apple is looking for managers, retail assistants and iTunes interns.
Apple CEO Tim Cook spent time in the UAE earlier this year, with gossip flying about the purpose of his trip. Apple has already expanded its retail outlets to a number of developing territories in recent years. Its flagship Beijing store threw open its doors in January this year.
The new Dubai outlet is rumoured to open in early 2015. Currently, the Madrid Apple store is the world’s largest, at 6,666 square metres. It opened in June.
Apple will be hoping the new shop can capitalise on the huge flow of wealth that passes through Dubai. With the iPhone 6, new iPad Air 2 and rumoured iWatch all likely to be up for grabs come the start of next year, this new store is likely to be one of the company’s most lucrative yet.
