One of the biggest ever Xbox One updates has landed, bringing with it support for 3D Blu-rays, mobile purchasing, and more.
With the latest Xbox One software update having started to filter out to gamers, the patch will continue its rollout for all over the coming days. And it brings a truckload of new features to play.
The biggest of which is support for 3D Blu-rays. Sony's PS4 has had this feature since last month, but now Xbox One owners can join them in marvelling at the beauty of Blu-rays in 3D. Providing they have a 3D TV, of course.
Next up is mobile purchasing. This does what it says on the tin – it lets you buy games and downloadable content from your mobile, as soon as they become available. As long as you've told your console to download updates automatically, everything should be set up and ready as soon as you get home. No more sitting in front of a progress bar for hours.
The controller is also getting in on the action. It now indicates when the battery is running low, so you'll never run out of juice during a gaming session again.
Finally, the activity feed has been given a makeover. You can now post status updates and comment on other people's posts.
The update is rolling out from today, but it may take a couple of days to reach your console. Patience, it's a virtue…
