Apple has quietly launched iBooks gifting for iOS and OS X just in time for Christmas.
You can finally gift a book bought from the iBook Store or iTunes, just as you can with an app, album, movie, TV show or other Apple purchased content.
Previously, you could only purchase iBook store credit for another iTunes user, rather than buying a specific book for another account.
Amazon’s Kindle book store has allowed eBook gifting for many years and has been a point of contention for iBook users for some time.
Of course, you may want to double check that book really is what you family member wants for Christmas, as with iBooks there are no refunds or exchanges.
On the iOS iBooks store to send a book to a friend as a gift, simply hit the share button in the top right hand corner of the screen when you’ve selected the book you wish to purchase.
This will then bring up the gift option along with the ability to share your Christmas wishlist via social media networks, text or email.
Apple launched iBooks for Mac as part of OS X Mavericks, which is handy for students and other researchers.
To gift a book on your Mac, click the drop down box next to the price and the first option is now “Gift This Book.”
