The BlackBerry 10.2 OS updates has been shown off in a video preview that reveals some of the new features coming to BB10.
BlackBerry’s next firmware upgrade and some of its upcoming features have been demoed in a video preview that appeared online.
It’s worth noting that this is still an early build of the new firmware and is still subject to change and improvements, but nonetheless the video still shows off some of the features coming to BB10 smartphones like the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10 at some point this year.
BlackBerry has already confirmed that BlackBerry 10.2 will introduce the ability to send Emojis in messages, receive level 1 notifications and set multiple alarms for different reminders.
However, the video preview reveals BB10.2 will allow users to back up their device to a computer, will feature a new loading screen and have BlackBerry Channel Integration straight out of the box.
BlackBerry 10.2 will also offer a BBM upgrade and an updated “more squared-off” UI. Each app now loads with the logo and a new spinning, pulsating circle icon too.
The Canadian smartphone manufacturer has yet to release the BlackBerry 10.1 firmware upgrade worldwide, but is apparently already working on new features to bring to BB10 handset users later this year.
The BlackBerry 10.2 video comes a day after new rumours that a BlackBerry A10 device is set for a November launch as a replacement flagship for the BlackBerry Z10. There are currently no features or specs leaked for the BlackBerry A10, but it would be quite unusual for BlackBerry to launch another flagship within a year of the current offering.
Packing a 4.2-inch display with 1280 x 720p resolutions, the BlackBerry Z10 has a dual-core 1.5GHz processor bolstered by 2GB of RAM. It has a 2,100mAh battery, an 8-megapixel camera and 16GB of internal storage.
