Mountain Lion has been updated prior to WWDC
Apple has issued the latest update for its Mac OS X Mountain Lion operating system, bringing a host of bug fixes, including a resolution for an annoying iMessages issues.
Mac OS X 10.8.4, which is available to download from the Mac App Store now, solves the problem of messages occasionally appearing out of chronological order when using the company's Apple-to-Apple messaging service.
Also included is a fix for the FaceTime video calling client which had prevented users from making calls to non-US phone numbers.
There's also better Microsoft Exchange integration for the Mountain Lion Calendar app and improvements to Wi-Fi connectivity on enterprise networks.
It could also save your bacon if you rely on the Calendar app to remember your friends' birthdays. It had previously displayed birthdays incorrectly, depending on which timezone your friends were in.
Beyond those items, it's some pretty bog-standard bug fixes and refinements, but fret not, it may not be long before we have a lovely new version of the operating system with a host of exciting new features to enjoy
The update comes less than a week before the company's WWDC keynote where, traditionally, it has detailed the annual Mac OS X update.
Speculation for Mac OS X 10.9 has centred on the inclusion of more iOS-like features such as Siri, iOS Maps, better multitasking, as well as iBooks and Newsstand apps for the desktop.
We'll find out for sure on June 10 when Tim Cook, Phil Schiller and co take the stage at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
