Samsung Chromebook 2 release date confirmed


The Samsung Chromebook 2 release date has been confirmed with the device touching down in May.


Samsung has confirmed that you will be able to get the Chromebook 2 in the UK from May, but the exact date is dependent on which screen size you’d prefer.


The 11.6-inch black Chromebook 2 will be available from May 1, but the 11.6-inch white and 13.6-inch Chromebook 2 won’t be available until May 12.


“Since we introduced our first Chromebook in 2011, Samsung has been committed to continually developing the design and features of the series to meet our customers’ ever-changing needs, while staying true to the core Chromebook attitudes of simplicity, speed and security,” said Simon Standford, VP of Samsung IT and Mobile Division. “The Chromebook 2 Series does just that, whcihc is hwy we’re delighted to be bringing the devices to the UK market.”


Samsung has yet to announce the pricing for either Chromebook model for the UK.


Samsung Chromebook 2 Features

The Samsung Chromebook 2 is powered by a Samsung Exynos 5 Octa with a minimum 2GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB Flash storage and offers an 8-hour battery life.


There’s a 720p HD web camera on both models and they run Google’s Chrome OS with access to the Google Play Store.


Both models also come with one HDMI, one USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 and a microSD multi-media card reader.


The 11.6-inch Chromebook 2 has a 1366 x 768p HD display with a processor clocked at 1.9GHz. The 13.3-inch model comes with a 1920 x 1080p full HD display running on a processor with a clock speed of 2.1GHz.
