DriveClub release date revealed prematurely by Amazon

The DriveClub release date has been revealed prematurely by Amazon, ahead of any official details.

Amazon US has listed the DriveClub release date as Tuesday September 30, despite Evolution Studios still claiming it will be launched in “early 2014”.

Customers have allegedly received emails from Amazon US, which state pre-orders will arrive between October 3 and October 7.

Sony has declined to comment on the rumoured release date, but that doesn’t give any weight either way to the September launch.

The racing title was originally scheduled to be a PS4 launch title but was subsequently delayed.

Earlier this month, Scott Rhode – Head of Software Development at Sony – admitted the team had been forced “back to the drawing board” with DriveClub.

“Sometimes this happens in the normal course of business, where we think we’re back on track to deliver what we think is going to be a great game, and when we got closer, we realised that we’d be doing everyone a disservice if we shipped it before it was ready,” said Rhode.
