Mac Pro stock shortages sees delivery dates pushed back to March

In what is becoming an increasingly frequent issue for the Cupertino-based company, Apple is once again struggling with stock shortages as Mac Pro shipping dates are pushed back to March.

Originally launched earlier this month, the high-end desktop computer that is the latest Apple Mac Pro saw its estimated delivery date pushed back from January to February within hours of going on sale. Now, just days later, the computer is facing further delays, with new orders not shipping until March.

Apple has failed to give any reason for the delays to the professional-grade desktop which is available from £2,499. What’s more, the estimated shipping times remain particularly vague, currently covering the entire month of March.

Far from the only recent instance of Apple suffering from major stock shortages, the launches of a number of the company’s key products over the past 12 months have been troubled by limited availability.

While the iPhone 5S was in particularly short supply at launch, especially the gold-hued model, the iPad mini 2 was also troubled by limited stocks at launch.

A device in hot demand, the new Mac Pro marks a complete ground-up rebuild over past models, with the pricey machine now playing host to a compact, cylindrical aluminium hewn body that measures just 9.9-inches tall – an eighth of the overall size of its predecessor.

Despite this compact form the Apple Mac Pro plays host to a bevy of premium innards, with the base model featuring a 3.7GHz quad-core Intel Xeon E5 processor a dual AMD FirePro D300 GPUs.

On top of this, the £2,499 entry-level making adds12GB of integrated memory and 256GB of flash storage.
