Apple is reportedly preparing a duo of iPhone 6 models to launch later this year, with the first 4.7-inch version to launch in June.
The Cupertino company will then launch a second iPhone 6 model later in the year featuring a 5.7-inch display for those looking for increased screen estate.
According to Sun Chyang Xu, a Chinese analyst who correctly predicted Google would hand over the X Phone to Motorola entirely (to become the Motorola Moto X), Apple has two iPhone 6 smartphones up its sleeves.
Apple will apparently start trial productions of the 4.7-inch iPhone 6 next month, ramping up to full scale production in May for a June launch.
This could schedule a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 launch for the Apple WWDC conference on June 10.
Apparently, the smaller iPhone 6 will come with the same 1136 x 640p resolution screen as the iPhone 5S. This would mean the image density would drop from 326ppi (Retina display) to 277.42ppi.
The 5.7-inch iPhone 6 will be launched to fall in line with usual Apple release time line in September. This larger display model will have a better resolution than the 4.7-inch alternative, although there’s no indication as to what that will be as yet.
Apple has already deviated from its usual one iPhone launch per year with the simultaneous release of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C last year.
The logical step would be for Apple to stagger the iPhone launches to boost its distribution growth potential, hence why the predictions suggest a June and September iPhone release.
Of course, these are only predictions for now, but we hope Apple will launch a larger screen iPhone later this year, upgrading the current 4-inch offerings.
