Xbox One follows PS4 in being sold out for Christmas delivery at Amazon

Amazon has confirmed that the Xbox One has followed in the footsteps of the rival PS4 and is no longer available for delivery ahead of the Christmas period though Amazon.

With the Xbox One release date scheduled for next Friday, November 22, Amazon has announced that new Xbox One pre-orders will now not be honoured until after the festive period.

Orders placed from November 13 may not be delivered before Christmas,” a note on the retailer’s Xbox One product listing states.

News that the Xbox One is no longer available in time for Christmas comes just one day after Amazon announced that it would no longer be able to ship new PS4 pre-orders to gamers in time for the holidays.

While Day One Xbox One pre-orders have been sold out for a number of months, this marks the first time a major retailers has indicated just how short in supply the eagerly awaited next-gen games console will be in the run up to the Christmas period.

Although the PS4 is now on sale in the US, the Xbox One rival will not hit UK retailers until November 29, seven days after the Microsoft branded gamer will go on sale.

Although the Xbox One has the advantage of hitting British shores first, the 360 follow-on is the considerably more expensive of the two upcoming consoles. The Xbox One price tag has been set at £429, a full £80 more than the £349 PS4 price.
