Netflix arrives on Virgin Media TiVo boxes

Netflix has launched on Virgin Media TiVo boxes today, bringing the TV and movie streaming service to an additional 1.8 million homes.

Complementing the existing Virgin Media On Demand services, like Virgin Movies, Sky Movies and Picturebox, Netflix will now be offered on the network provider’s TiVo boxes.

The addition of Netflix follows a successful pilot testing the popularity of the service on Virgin Media TiVo earlier this year.

Existing Netflix customers can simply sign into their account via their Virgin Media TiVo box, or new customers can sign up for a 30-day free trial of the streaming service.

Anyone signing up for the Virgin Media Premiere or VIP Collections bundles will also get a free 6 month subscription to Netflix.

“With the addition of our Netflix app, Virgin Media customers have an unbeatable line-up of movies and TV series to choose from,” said Dana Strong, Virgin Media’s COO. “People love watching with Virgin Media TiVo and we continue to lead the way as the fastest growing pay TV service in the country. In two year, 1.8 million homes have signed up to Virgin Media TiVo and what we believe is the best way to watch television.”

The Netflix app rollout to Virgin Media TiVo boxes is already under way and all set-tops will receive it by November 15. Netflix will be available in the Apps & Games section of the TiVO box.

It will offer Virgin Media TiVO viewers exclusive content like Orange is the New Black, Arrested Development and House of Cards.

“By partnering with Virgin Media we’re bringing an amazing Netflix experience to millions of TV fans and movie lovers,” said Bill Holmes, Global Head of Business Development at Netflix.

Netflix is part of the latest Virgin Media TiVo box update, which also brings improved WishLists and recommendations for users among other incremental updates.
