PS4 sales help Call of Duty: Ghosts top UK All Format Gaming Chart

Call of Duty: Ghosts has topped the UK All Format Gaming Chart during its debut week on sale, with the PS4 version of the game already accounting for three per cent of sales.

Despite Sony’s next-gen console not being set to hit retailers until November 29, publisher Activision has already started selling the compatible version of Call of Duty: Ghosts with the game, which will not be able to be played for a further three weeks, outselling the PS3 iterations of Battlefield 4 and Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag during the past week.

With many of the year’s triple-A games now on sale, Call of Duty: Ghosts has outsold its closest rivals for the week ending November 9, with the latest COD instalment taking top honours ahead of EA’s Battlefield 4. Last week’s chart topper, Assassin’s Creed 4 suffered a 63 per cent week-on-week decline in sales to, dropping two places to third.

Making way for the COD themed new entry, former chart toppers FIFA 14 and GTA 5 each dropped one place during last week’s sales chart, lining up in fourth and fifth positions respectively.

With Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy the week’s second highest new entry in a lowly 13th position, the remainder of the top ten chart positions are a familiar sight.

While Batman: Arkham Origins dropped one place to sixth, WWE 2K14 and Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition held firm in spots seven and eight respectively.

Rounding out the week’s top ten, Football Manager 2014 has seen a 65 per cent drop in week-on-week sales take it down to ninth with Activision’s Skylanders Swap Force seeing the publisher bookend the leading chart positions.
