Is this the cool metal frame of the Galaxy S5?
Pictures of the Samsung Galaxy S5’s new metal frame have leaked online ahead of a rumoured launch early next year.
This could be the first glimpse of the metallic frame Samsung is using for the Galaxy S5 flagship, which is supposedly the first Galaxy handset to move away from a plastic body.
Nowhereelse.fr has obtained the images from a subcontractor Samsung has reportedly chosen to produce the S5’s metallic frames.
Of course, there’s no confirmation as to whether these actually belong to the Samsung Galaxy S5 so as usual take the snaps with a rather large handful of salt.
For one thing, the rear camera is situated in the top corner of the Samsung Galaxy S5 if these frames are legitimate, which means Samsung has moved it from the centre of the phone as it is in the Samsung Galaxy S4.
The headphone jack is also on the bottom of the device like it is with the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
Also, the space for the USB port doesn’t look wide enough for USB 3.0. There are bound to be more inaccuracies that can be spotted as well by eagle-eyed Galaxy S4 owners.
Metal frames aside, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is also rumoured to pack a WQHD 2560 x 1440p display to improve upon the Full 1080p HD resolution of the Galaxy S4.
A recent Samsung patent filing also suggests the device will feature iris-scanning technology, improving the security offered by fingerprint sensors included in the likes of the HTC One Max.
Samsung is also prepping a 14nm 64-bit Exynos 6 CPU for 2014 that will feature in the Galaxy S5, or so a senior ARM official hinted earlier this month.
Shin Jong-Kyun, Samsung’s CEO of Mobile, said earlier this year that: “Yes, our next smartphones will have 64-bit processing functionality.”
