Amazon offers free 30 day Kindle HDX trial

Amazon is offering a free month-long trial of its new Kindle Fire HDX range to select customers.

The online retail giant has begun sending out email invitations to some of its customers in the US, offering the chance to take a tablet for a 30 day test drive. If the customer doesn’t want to keep the device beyond that point, they can send it back and no charge will be made.

Amazon will cover the shipping both ways, even if you choose to send the Kindle back.

Customers who are offered this unique deal can choose between the 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire HDX, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, or the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite ebook reader.

Look a little closer and you’ll see that Amazon has always offered something similar on its Kindle range. Customers have always been able to send their tablets and ebook readers back within 30 days in a no quibbles money back deal. However, this still involved Amazon taking the money up front.

This new method sounds like a great way for Amazon to get its primary products into the hands of its customers, with no physical stores to do that job for them.

It’s unclear whether the deal has been extended beyond the US at this point, or whether it will in the run up to Christmas. The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX has been available in the UK for exactly a week now, so it would make sense for the company to boost awareness of it through such a scheme.

The 7-inch version of the Kindle HDX offers a 1,920 x 1,200 IPS display, a quad-core 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU, and Amazon’s custom UI for easy access to Amazon’s vast network of digital media.

One deal UK customers can definitely capitalise on is a price drop for last year's Amazon Kindle Fire HD to just £99.
