Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox One live game streaming service via Twitch won’t be available at launch, just days before the console is released.

Ahead of the Xbox One release date on Friday, November 22, Microsoft has announced the Twitch.tv live game streaming service won’t be arriving until some time in 2014.

The Xbox One Twitch.tv app will offer gamers the ability to instantly broadcast their gameplay, but they won’t be able to do this until next year.

“We know the ability to instantly broadcast gameplay is something the gaming community is excited about, and we are too,” reads the Xbox Wire post. “We are working to ensure the initial Twitch on Xbox One broadcasting experience meets the expectations of the Twitch community, so while this feature won’t be available right away, we’ll let you know as soon as it is ready. Our goal is to deliver it during the first part of 2014.”

There will be a Twitch.tv app available on the Xbox One at launch though, which will enable gamers to watch live and catalogued broadcasts and earn achievements for using the service.

“The Twitch experience on Xbox One will enable Xbox Live Gold members to view the full content catalog from tens of thousands of PC & console broadcasters on the Twitch platform. Twitch on Xbox One will have the most robust viewing experience on the market for any console, utilising features such as Snap mode and instant switching.”

Microsoft announced the partnership with Twitch.tv at E3 in June to bring live game streaming to the Xbox One. The PS4 will enable gamers to live stream their gameplay from launch via Twitch and Ustream.

"Live broadcasting has continued to grow in popularity, but sharing your console experience has never been this easy,” said Twitch CEO Emmett Shear at E3. “Xbox Live Gold is enabling the ability to both upload your gameplay directly to Twitch and to stream Twitch content on Xbox One. The impact of this level of console integration will be a true game changer.”

Other day one apps for the Xbox One aside from Twitch are 4oD, Netflix, LoveFilm, Blinkbox, NOW TV, Wuaki.tv, Demand 5, Eurosport, TED, Machinima, MUZU TV and Crackle.
