The BlackBerry Z50 and the BlackBerry Q30 are tipped to be the two new flagship smartphones launching next year.
BlackBerry might not be dead after all, as the Canadian company is reportedly preparing a duo of new flagships to launch from Q2 2014 onwards.
The BlackBerry Q30 and BlackBerry Z50 will be the successors of the current BB10 flagships the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Q10.
Not much is known about either handset at yet, but the rumours suggest the Z50 will have a 5.2-inch screen with a full 1080 x 1920p HD resolution. It will also supposedly have a quad-core processor and be released in Q3 2014.
The Q30 will be the full physical QWERTY keyboard alternative flagship, but no other details about the phone’s spec sheet are currently known. However, it will launch before the Z50 in Q2 2014.
Earlier this month, a budget BlackBerry C-series handset leaked online, with images of the squat, plastic casing suggesting a wallet-friendly price tag.
The C-series devices will have a microSD card expansion slot and a removable back panel, but no official specs have been released as yet.
From the size and approximate dimensions, we expect it will be similar in size or a fraction smaller than the BlackBerry Q5 mid-range smartphone.
It isn’t yet known whether the C-series will feature a QWERTY keyboard or opt for a full touchscreen instead.
In September, BlackBerry said it would be moving away from consumer smartphones until it could stabilise its market position and restructure the business.
“Going forward, we plan to refocus our offering on our end-to-end solution of hardware, software and services for enterprises and the productive, professional end user,” said an official BlackBerry spokesperson at the time.
However, from the rumours, it seems new BlackBerry CEO John Chen is still fighting the BlackBerry smartphone fight.
