New iPhone 6 rumours have surfaced, with a newly leaked Apple patent suggesting the upcoming handset could feature a curved touchscreen display.
With past iPhone 6 rumours having pointed to a curved handset similar to the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Round or the LG G Flex, the latest Apple patent has revealed that the company is working on a “curved touch sensor.”
Detailing a manufacturing process that the company is looking to secure patent for, Apple has suggested that its future smartphones could benefit from a production technique that results in “curved touch surfaces without deficiencies caused by substrate warping or deformation.”
While the iPhone 6 has not been mentioned in the patent application, Apple has revealed that it is looking to use the curved touchscreen displays on smartphones among other devices.
Aside from handsets, the Cupertino-based company has teased that the panels could also be used on future touch mice, bringing computer peripherals back to the fore.
Although curved phones are still very much a thing of the future, Apple’s patent has revealed that they could quickly develop past a single curve.
The company has hinted that the display technology could be used to produce screens with multiple curves and ripples.
A number of recent iPhone 6 rumours have suggested that the handset will land with an all new design and a larger 4.7-inch screen.
