PS4, Dualshock 4 and the PlayStation Camera
Twitch has removed all streams from The Playroom on PS4 due to violations of its terms of service.
An influx of non-gaming content on the streaming service Twitch has caused the company to block all videos uploaded via The Playroom.
The company wished to highlight that all of Twitch content should be gaming related, especially after one couple became PS4 streaming stars with a call-in talk show using the game and the PlayStation Camera.
“We removed Playroom content from the directory because a majority of it was non-gaming related” said a Twitch representative. “We will look into adding it back as PS4 owners become more familiar with the games-only focus of Twitch content. In the meantime, you can view all of the amazing gameplay from PS4 broadcasters in this directory page on Twitch.”
This will affect gamers looking forward to picking up their PS4 console tomorrow, November 29, in the UK.
Using The Playroom, a game that comes free with every PS4 console, gamers were turning their PlayStation Camera into a makeshift camcorder. Intended to be a virtual reality game, the Playroom allows gamers to view a fullscreen camera view via the Playstation Camera, something unique to the game.
Twitch originally issued a wave of bans on users who had posted content it considered objectionable and rule-breaking, but has since blocked content from The Playroom altogether.
When the original rule-breaking content appeared on Twitch’s feeds, the company announced it would be making a move to punish users in violation of its Terms of Service.
“FYI: We continue to moderate according to our Terms of Service. Non-gaming content is not allowed,” said Twitch at the time. “Non-gaming content: If using PS4 Playroom, the content must be about games or gaming and within our ToS. Thanks for understanding.”
