Acer C720P launched as first touchscreen Chromebook

The Acer C720P has been unveiled as the first touchscreen Chromebook, but still retains the attractive price tag.

Acer’s new 11.6-inch touchscreen C720P Chromebook was launched today complete with a 7.5 hour battery life and 32GB SSD.

“Our new touchscreen C720P gives customers an intuitive way to browse sites online, enjoy apps, and do more with the Chromebook,” said John Miedema, Director of the Business Product Unit at Acer EMEA. “The Acer C720 Chromebook line has been praised for its performance and battery life, and this new touchscreen model allows us to address the needs of an even wider range of customers with exciting new capabilities.”

Acer C720P Features

The Acer C720P Chromebook is a slim and lightweight touchscreen laptop, just 2cm thick and 1.3kg in weight. It features an 11.6-inch ComfyView 1366 x 768p HD resolution LED display.

Touchscreen functionality allows you to use gestures with the C720P and as it is powered by an Intel Celeron 2955U processor with 2GB of DDR3 RAM it should be pretty quick too. This CPU is based on the Intel Haswell micro-architecture too.

The speedy CPU also helps lengthen the battery life to 7.5 hours.

The C720P comes with a 32GB SSD that means a fast boot-up time of 7 seconds and offers Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n connectivity. You’ll also get an HD webcam, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports and an HDMI.

Running Chrome OS, the C720P also comes with 100GB of free Google Drive storage for the first two years, as well as in-built Google apps like Gmail, Hangouts and YouTube.

Acer C720P Release Date and Price

The Acer C720P Chromebook will be available from early December with a retail price of €299.99 (£249.99). Exact UK pricing is not yet available.
