Microsoft's next Xbox console will be capable of interaction with the user's TV set-top box allowing them to control all of their entertainment needs, according to reports.
The Verge brings word from multiple Microsoft sources, that the next-fen console, could hook up to the likes of Sky, Virgin Media and Freesat boxes via HDMI, bringing access to the live TV signals.
The report suggests the service will work in much the same way as the Google TV platform, with the Xbox accessing the EPG and allowing users to directly access programming.
The feature, according to the article, will be available from launch with support from various cable providers rolling out as time goes on.
The Verge has been informed by sources that the Xbox TV service will provide a unique UI that relies heavily on the Kinect sensor.
Users will be able to control programming with gestures, while the peripheral will also detect when they turn their head away from the screen and pause the video playback.
The reported plans are an extension of Microsoft's current efforts to turn the celebrated games console into an all-in-one entertainment hub for the living room.
In the UK, Microsoft already has relationships with the likes of the BBC iPlayer, Sky Go, 4OD and ITV Player, as well as subscription services like Netflix and Lovefilm.

The Verge has been on a roll with the Xbox 720 news this week. Just yesterday, it brought news that Microsoft is planning to announced the new console at a media event on May 21st.
Microsoft has not confirmed the reports, nor has it commented on today's TV speculation.
