An iOS 7 concept video from an Apple fan has shown the potential capabilities of the next Apple OS instalment.
Federico Bianco, a.k.a misterwhite84, who made the YouTube iOS 7 concept video, has demonstrated what new features could be incorporated into the existing iOS 6 to unlock its full potential.
The changes, although subtle, makes the current iOS 6 much more user friendly and vastly increases the functionality of features such as the Lock Screen and Setting menu.
As part of the iOS 7 concept, users would be able to toggle airplane mode or turn on Wi-Fi, as well as customising what function they can access via the Lock Screen. The camera icon could be replaced by the calling function, meaning users can make calls without unlocking their handset.
The Quick Reply function could allow iOS 7 users to quickly reply to any text messages direct from the Lock Screen or within a pop-up window within other apps or the Home Screen.
Mission Control, seen in the Mac OS, could be utilised within iOS 7, allowing iPhone and iPAd users to clearly see all open apps and quickly close any or all of them, certainly useful for preserving precious battery life.
Bianco’s Quick Settings function offers users the option to hold down the Settings icon to give easy access to toggle buttons for 3G, Bluetooth and Airplane mode for example, as well as Brightness and Volume levels.
One of the most interesting of Bianco’s iOS 7 additions is the Widgets, which offer pop-out menus for the core apps such as Music, Calendar and the App Store, accessed by double tapping on the appropriate icon.
Apple has a history of unveiling its latest iOS at its Worldwide Developers’ Conference every summer, but recent rumours have suggested iOS 7 is behind schedule and Apple has transferred developers from other departments including OS X 10.9 to aid the new mobile OS.
