iPad Pro leaks again with iPhone 6 inspired design

iPad Pro rumours are back, with latest reports suggesting Apple will launch a new, oversized tablet with a design inspired by that of the iPhone 6.

Although the much mooted iPad Pro failed to materialise alongside the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 during Apple’s 2014 tablet launch earlier this month, it has again been suggested that the Cupertino-based company is working on a third range to its slate family.

Unlike the Air and the mini, both of which are pitched heavily at the consumer market, it is expected that the iPad Pro will look to rival the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 in the business space.

While most iPad Pro rumours have to date suggested Apple’s plump tablet will rock a 12.9-inch display, latest reports have claimed the device will in fact run a slightly smaller, 12.2-inch form.

Despite this large footprint, it has been suggested the iPad Pro will line up at just 6.9mm thick, the same as the iPhone 6 – queue the next round of ‘bendgate’ complaints.

Further similarities between the rumoured iPad Pro and Apple’s existing devices, however, are few and far between.

The reports, which have surfaced courtesy of claimed Macotakara sources, have suggested the iPad Pro could echo the Nexus 9 in rocking front-facing stereo speakers.

A reworked, MacBook-inspired iSight camera and relocated TouchID sensor could also feature.

There is currently no word on a planned iPad Pro release date. Given the recent Air and mini updates, however, we would be surprised to see new Apple devices announced before 2015.
