Batman star Christian Bale has reportedly opted out of playing Steve Jobs in a forthcoming biopic chronicling the Apple co-founder’s life.
A little over a week ago Bale was confirmed in the lead role for the Aaron Sorkin penned, Sony Pictures project, but the Hollywood Reporter claims the deal is now off.
Sources claim that Bale “after after much deliberation and conflicting feelings, came to the conclusion he was not right for the part and decided to withdraw.”
The news comes as a blow for The Social Network writer Sorkin, who had heralded Bale’s casting in an interview with Bloomberg on October 23.
He had said: “We needed the best actor on board in a certain age range, and that’s Chris Bale. He didn’t have to audition. Well, there was a meeting.”
"He has more words to say in this movie than most people have in three movies combined. There isn't a scene or a frame that he's not in. So it's an extremely difficult part and he is gonna crush it."
The HR’s report offered no insight into Bale’s potential replacement as the Apple co-founder and former CEO.
It is thoughts that Trainspotting’s Danny Boyle has been nabbed to direct the project, while Seth Rogen may play Jobs’ early collaborator and fellow co-founder Steve Wozniak.
