HTC One 2 Mini specs revealed

HTC One Mini

The original HTC One Mini

HTC is planning a stripped back and shrunken version of the HTC One 2, according to a report over the weekend.

We’ve been receiving a steady drip of information concerning the HTC One 2, or the HTC M8 to give the phone its code-name. But fresh information has emerged concerning HTC’s next step.

As with the original HTC One, the Taiwanese manufacturer will launch a smaller, lower spec version of the HTC One 2. The first such device was called the HTC One Mini, so let’s go with the imaginative name of the HTC One 2 Mini for the follow-up.

In fact, that’s what serial tipster @evleaks is calling it, having provided a batch of specifications for the next-gen mid-ranger over the weekend.

The HTC One 2 Mini will apparently feature a 4.5-inch 720p display, which is up from the original’s 4.3-inch version (so not-so-mini, then).

Its processor, too, will be considerably beefier in the shape of a quad-core Snapdragon 400 CPU. The original used the same chip, but in a dual-core configuration. There’ll still be a modest 1GB of RAM backing this processor up.

The One 2 Mini’s camera will be a 13-megapixel unit, which is a considerable bump up from the first Mini’s 4-megapixel example.

As you might expect, the HTC One 2 Mini will boast the same Sense 6.0 UI as will be present on the HTC One 2, and the tweet also points to the same lack of fascia buttons as its bigger brother is tipped for.

There’s no news on when we might see the HTC One 2 Mini, but the original appeared in shops around six months after the HTC One. Will HTC adopt a similar staggered approach, or will the One 2 Mini be a cheaper, smaller alternative to the One 2 from launch?
