Backlight Apple wireless keyboard leak

A new Apple wireless keyboard appears to have been inadvertently revealed on the Apple Store.

The leaked keyboard has backlight control keys on the F5 and F6 buttons, which don’t appear on current iterations of the device.

It also has a power button in place of the eject button, a likely response to the dwindling use of CDs as a storage medium.

A power button is also interesting, because Macs don’t currently recognise wireless keyboards until they boot.

The power button could be for the keyboard itself, of course, or it could now feature the ability to turn Macs on remotely.

Images of the keyboard turned up on the Czech Republic, Hungary, and US stores, although they have since been taken down (via MacRumors ).

It’s also worth noting that Apple didn’t update the product description for the device while the keyboard image was live, which suggests the reveal was a mistake.

The old Apple keyboard is still up for grabs currently across all regions, although this may chance if the company opts to retail the new model.

Apple hasn’t made any formal announcements regarding an update to its keyboard, but minimal changes to Apple wares often land without marketing fanfare.

We’ll update you if Apple decides to go official with the update wireless keyboard.
