Spotify lyrics

Spotify has bundled a new feature onto its desktop app that looks to help deskbound users sing along to their favourite tracks.

Songs will now have a ‘lyrics’ button that will bring up the lyrics front and centre on your PC in real time.

This is thanks to the newly integrated Musixmatch service, a platform that touts itself as ‘the world’s largest lyrics catalogue’.

What’s more, you’ll also be able to search or browse for lyrics using Spotify’s explore feature, adding a new layer to Spotify’s search engine.

Musixmatch is already one of the most popular apps for Spotify’s desktop app, so the integration will be a welcome change for many users.

It’s a breath of fresh air from the company otherwise known for focusing on mobile software and sometimes leaving the desktop Spotify app by the wayside.

What’s more, Spotify is often seen as competing with itself through the rival desktop and web player versions. This should hopefully improve fortunes for the desktop app.

Spotify also made a few other minor improvements to its desktop app, including modifying the friend feed to make it easy to see what playlists, songs, and artists friends are listening to.

Daily viral charts have also been added to help users gauge which tracks have been shared the most around the world and in users’ own regions.

The new Spotify desktop app version will begin rolling out to all users in ‘the coming weeks’.
