Apple Watch launch event confirmed for March 9

Apple has confirmed plans to hold a media event on March 9, sparking speculation as to what the iPhone 6 marker has in store.

Having confirmed plans for the imminent event, Apple has adorned invites (below) sent of to members of the media with the teasing tagline “Spring forward”.

While this might seem particularly vague to some, given clocks in the US are set to be moved forward one hour the night before, it appears all but certain that the event will focus around the upcoming Apple Watch release.

Despite having been announced back in September, there are still many unanswered questions surrounding the Apple Watch’s existence.

The key question expected to be answered at the upcoming event will surround the precise Apple Watch release date.

Although CEO Tim Cook recently stated the techy timepiece will hit retailers in April, an exact date of release is currently unclear.

Similarly, detailing pricing structures are still surrounded in much mystery. The entry-level Apple Watch Sport will set wannabe owners back $349 (£227). However, with a total of 34 configurations to be available from day one, it has been mooted that pricing for the 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition could creep as high as $10,000 (£6,483).

The Apple Watch is the Cupertino-company’s first foray into the wearable market.

Set to go head-to-head with Android Wear offerings such as the Moto 360 and the LG G Watch R, the Apple Watch will feature a new Digital Crown interface, an iOS inspired interface and a ‘Taptic’ hepatic feedback engine.

Looking to appeal to both sexes, the Apple Watch will be offered in two sizes and a broad range of colours. Featuring an integrated heart rate sensor the smartwatch will combine smartphone-syncing notifications with the usual array of activity tracking.

Keeping to type, Apple has confirmed the event will be held at the Yerba Buena Centre in San Francisco, the location for many past major announcements.

Although not teased by the invite, it has previously been suggested that the Apple Watch launch event will double up as the unveiling of the heavily rumours iPad Pro.

The event will kick off at 10am PST (6pm GMT). Stay tuned to TrustedReviews for all the latest on the Apple Watch release.
