More information on the Samsung Galaxy A7 has emerged, revealing it to be Samsung's thinnest ever smartphone.

We heard some solid details on the Samsung Galaxy A7 last week when it hit the US regulatory body, the FCC.

Now we've had more details provided by a similar listing on China's equivalent, the Telecommunication Equipment Certification Centre.

According to that listing, the Samsung Galaxy A7 will be just 6.3mm thin. That's slimmer than the 6.7mm Samsung Galaxy Alpha, making it the skinniest Samsung phone yet.

Elsewhere we get more confirmation of the specs provided last week, though there appear to be a couple of crucial spec changes. What was previously reported as a 5.2-inch display is actually a 5.5-inch display, carrying the Samsung Galaxy A7 firmly into phablet territory where previously it was just a very large phone.

However, it retains its 1080p resolution, and the 1.5GHz 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 CPU appears to remain the same too. Again, it's backed by 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, with no potential for expansion.

One other slight difference is the camera. Previously reported as a 12-megapixel model, the new report from China suggests that it's actually a 13-megapixel unit. The front camera will be a generous 5-megapixel example.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 will apparently run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, though you can expect an update to Android 5.0 KitKat over the coming months.

Expect to see Samsung making an official announcement on the A7 some time over the next few weeks.
