New Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare trailer focuses on future tech

Activision and Sledgehammer Games have released a new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare trailer, with the latest video focussing on the future of military technology.

The next instalment to the dominant Call of Duty franchise, Advanced Warfare is set in the near future – specifically the year 2054 – and as such, developer Sledgehammer Games is bringing a mass of futuristic weapons, vehicles and accessories to the game.

From hover bikes to exoskeletons, all are teased in the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare trailer and, according to Glen Schofield, General Manager and co-Founder of Sledgehammer Games, all are “based on technology we see today”.

Advanced Warfare is the technology of tomorrow, in the hands of the player today,” Michael Condrey, co-Founder and Studio Head of Sledgehammer Games stated.

“Future tech in the game is going to bring all sorts of exciting new things to the player,” Schofield added.

“The future tech in the game is actually based on technology we see today, but we’ve taken it further. That’s one of the things that Call of Duty has to be, it has to be relatable and it has to be believable, but we are taking it to an extent that also makes it fun and new.”

Speaking in the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare trailer, viewable below, Schofield added: “We have things like the threat detection grenade – I can throw it and see somebody behind a wall and see where the enemies are.

“On top of that we have technology like the hover bikes and the hover tanks, things that can go over all terrain, not only hovering on water, but hovering on land.

“It is going to change the experience of Call of Duty like never before.”

A Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare release date has been set for November 4, with the game to be made available for the current Xbox One and PS4 as well as the aging Xbox 360 and PS3.
