Microsoft has confirmed that it is slashing the price of the Microsoft Surface Pro following aggressive cuts for the Surface RT in July.
The Surface Pro is now 10 percent cheaper than it was before in a number of key regions as Microsoft looks to shift units of its unpopular Windows 8 flagship.
Microsoft has revealed price cuts of $100 for the US, Canada, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. They affect the 64GB and the 128GB models, and they will apparently last until August 29.
There's no news on whether the UK will experience similar savings, but then the Microsoft Surface Pro was only launched in this country in May - some seven months after its US debut.
Just last month it was revealed that Microsoft had taken a $900 million (£591 million) hit through unsold Surface RT inventory. This prompted Microsoft to slash prices of the entry-level Windows 8 tablet by around 30 per cent.
Microsoft has already teased Surface Pro and Surface RT refreshes over the coming 12 months, which it will use to push its Windows 8.1 update. It appears as if the company is eager to shift lingering stock of the outgoing Surface models.
It's believed that the new Surface Pro will feature Intel's new power-efficient Haswell processor, whilst the new Surface RT - which runs a more limited version of the Windows 8 OS - will run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 CPU.
