Claimed iPad mini 2 body parts have hit the web in picture form just days after similar shot of the unannounced iPad 5 started doing the rounds.
Pointing at a number of small design differences over the original-generation model, the claimed iPad mini 2 body features an integrated aluminium Apple logo, a change on the current plastic cut-out option.
Having hit the web courtesy of FanaticFone, the claimed iPad mini 2 leak, which has been shown off alongside a heavily redesigned iPad 5 body has suggested the revised tablet will reportedly see Apple’s next 7.9-inch offering feature the same dimensions as its predecessor.
While the change in material for the Apple logo might seem like nothing more than a cosmetic change, the current plastic offering allows for improved antenna reception for both 3G/4G connections and Wi-Fi signals. It is believed that the move to a metal backing would hamper this and so these reported leaks should be taken with a considerable pinch of salt.
According to recent iPad mini 2 rumours, the main difference between the second-generation Google Nexus 7 rival and the first will be a change in screen, with a new 7.9-inch Retina display tipped for inclusion.
As well as a HD Retina display, the iPad mini 2 specs sheet has been rumoured to see improved camera optics line up alongside a faster, quad-core processor and more RAM. As with the mooted iPhone 5S, the iPad mini 2 is expected to benefit from the iOS 7 operating system formally unveiled earlier this year and expected for rollout next month.
Although Apple has failed to confirm an iPad mini 2 release date as yet, it has been suggested that the tablet revision will be unveiled alongside the budget iPhone in mid-September ahead of a late September / early October release date.
