Mass Effect 4 team gains Gears of War producer Chris Wynn

BioWare’s Mass Effect 4 team will now be joined by the lead producer of Gears of War 3, Chris Wynn.

Previously the Senior Producer on Epic Games’ Gears of War 3 and Gears of War: Judgment, Wynn is deserting the company to take up a position at BioWare.

Wynn announced his new job on Twitter, saying he is “thrilled” to become part of the team focusing on the future of the successful Mass Effect series.

“Thrilled to announce that I will be joining @Bioware as the Sr. Development Director on the next Mass Effect”, tweeted Wynn from his personal account.

Working beneath the Mass Effect franchise boss Casey Hudson, Wynn will still have a huge part to play in the upcoming Mass Effect 4 game.

Wynn’s departure from Epic Games follows a number of other high-profile exits, including Design Director Cliff Bleszinski, Gears of War Senior Producer Rod Fergusson and Epic President Mike Capps.

Mass Effect 4 Rumours

Although we already know the series’ next installment won’t actually be called Mass Effect 4, all we know so far is that it is in the early stages of development.

Likely to launch for the next-generation Xbox One and PS4 consoles, Mass Effect 4 will be “something fresh and new” for fans of the series.

It won’t feature Commander Shepard, but could focus on “one of Shepard’s most loyal friends” such as Garrus.

Running on DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine, it will borrow some of the technology powering BioWare’s upcoming Dragon Age: Inquisition title.

BioWare recently asked for fan input for its Mass Effect 4 Xbox One and PS4 trailer, asking them what they would like to see in the Mass Effect 3 follow-up.

We expect that fans won’t see any new Mass Effect title until the close of 2014, especially seeing as Dragon Age: inquisition isn’t due until the autumn next year.
