Activision has confirmed that the first Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer details will be revealed in August, potentially at Gamescom.
To announce the Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer reveal, the game’s executive producer Mark Rubin took to Twitter, saying fans could expect more details in the middle of August.
“We are in our death march push to finish [Call of Duty: Ghosts}. Lots left to do. Looking forward to MP in August”, said Rubin on Twitter.
Although he failed to give an exact reveal date, a second tweet said the announcement would occur in the “middle” of next month.
This may mean that the Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer reveal will occur at Gamescom, which runs from August 21 – 25.
Activision usually showcases the COD multiplayer features in September, but it may have had to push forward its reveal to compete with the playable Battlefield 4 multiplayer experience offered at E3 2013.
The developer has already given fans a few tantalising titbits of information about the Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer experience.
During the Xbox One reveal, a mass of Call of Duty: Ghosts features were announced, with Activision saying “just two of the new features coming to the next-generation of Call of Duty multiplayer” will be character customisation and a new dynamic experience.
Similar to Battlefield 4 multiplayer, Call of Duty: Ghosts will introduce a dynamic experience driven by large scale events like earthquakes but also by player-driven incidents like building collapses.
Activision has also confirmed that the Call of Duty: Ghosts pre-order bonus will be a multiplayer map called “Free Fall”. Set within a partly demolished skyscraper, the map features dynamic and ever changing environmental elements that players must traverse as the building collapses around them.
“Dynamic map events change the way players approach the game, and Free Fall does a great job illustrating this new mechanic,” said Rubin. “As the match progresses, the geometry of the world continues to change and players need to adjust on the fly or else.”
Call of Duty: Ghosts will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 5. The COD title will also be a launch game for the Xbox One and PS4.
