Could a remodelled BlackBerry Z10 take design hints from the Galaxy S4?
A Samsung Galaxy S4 sized BlackBerry Z10 redesign handset is reportedly in the works, with the Canadian manufacturer looking to create a rival to leading Android handsets.
According to claimed sources “at a large Canadian network,” BlackBerry is reportedly working on a new BlackBerry 10 handset, with the BlackBerry Z10 spinoff said to host a 5-inch display similar to that on the market leading Samsung Galaxy S4.
Although specs of the as yet unconfirmed BlackBerry smartphone were not mentioned, the rumours have suggested the handset will be the company’s answer to the rise of oversized smartphone offerings that have seen the likes of the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy Note 2 gain traction with consumers.
While the mythical 5-inch BlackBerry 10 handset was a no show during the BlackBerry Live Keynote in Orlando, Florida, KnowYourMobile reported that “our source was confident that the unnamed handset would debut inside the next few months.”
It is currently unknown if the 5-inch BlackBerry 10 handset will be made available to UK markets or US retailers first, with past BB10 device launches suggesting British consumers could be the first to get their mitts on the device.
Although a 5-inch BlackBerry Z10 follow-on was not on show during BlackBerry Live, the Canadian manufacturer formally unveiled the BlackBerry Q5, a budget QWERTY hosting device that also sports a 3.1-inch touch screen display similar to the BlackBerry Q10.
Set to be made available in four colours, red, black, white and pink, the wallet-friendly BlackBerry Q5 will target the youth market, with BlackBerry President and CEO Thorsten Heins stating: "The BlackBerry Q5 gives you the best of everything with its cutting-edge BlackBerry 10 functionality and a physical QWERTY keyboard. It is for youthful fans that are passionate, confident and bold, and it makes it easy for them to have fun, create, share and stay connected."
