Apple Watch specs could echo Android Wear rivals

The Apple Watch specs sheet has leaked, with latest reports claiming the recently announced smartwatch could echo the components of its existing Android Wear rivals.

Despite having been bestowed with a premium price tag, Apple has remained coy on confirming precise Apple Watch specs to date.

Instead, during the gadget’s unveiling earlier this month, the Cupertino-based company focussed heavily on the device’s design and interface.

Now, however, analyst Timothy Arcuri of Cowen and Company has suggested the techy timepiece will run 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage as standard. His predictions, which have been reported in a research note sent to investors, are based on analysis of Apple’s supply chain.

If accurate, this specs sheet would see the Apple Watch offer identical internals to those found on the Samsung Gear S and Moto 360.

Further similarities between the Apple Watch and its Google loving counterparts include the addition of an inbuilt heart-rate monitor and wireless charging capabilities.

Having been handed a vague ‘early 2015’ release window, Apple Watch prices will start from $349. This fee will see the iPhone 6 companion line up at around $100 more expensive than its challengers.

The Apple Watch will be available in three guises, the entry level Apple Watch Sport, the standard Apple Watch and premium, 18-karat gold Apple Watch Edition.
