The eagerly awaited Android L release date will be held on November 1, latest reports have claimed.
Despite the software’s mooted November release, it has been suggested that the OS refresh will be formally detailed on October 16 alongside the upcoming Nexus 9 tablet.
Although Google has yet to offer any formal comment on a proposed Android L release date, the folks over at AndroidAuthority have cited unnamed “sources familiar with Google’s plans” in pegged the November 1 arrival.
“While Android L and new Nexus hardware will be shown off in mid-October, the final version of Android L won’t officially be available until November 1,” the reports stated.
Unfortunately, it is currently unclear if this date relates to the release of the first Android L powered devices, or when the software update will be issued to existing Android owners.
Despite an Android L update being on the horizon, recent figures revealed that just 24.5 per cent of Android products are currently running last year’s Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
In contrast, Apple’s iOS 8 update, released last week, achieved 46 per cent penetration of compatible devices in just five days.
Android L is widely expected to launch aboard the mooted Nexus 9. The rumoured device is reportedly being pieced together by HTC and will be powered by the new K1 processor.
