GTA 6 to be called GTA: City Stories?

GTA 6 could be called GTA: City Stories as Take-Two has just registered the name.

We could have just found out the name of the next Grand Theft Auto title, as Take-Two just registered the game name City Stories.

This isn’t just wild speculation of course, as City Stories is the name used for the PSP GTA sub-series, comprising of games like GTA: Liberty City Stories and GTA: Vice City Stories.

It could well mean that the City Stories title is an GTA 5 iteration for the PS Vita arriving later this year, or it could be a major DLC pack for last year’s blockbuster.

The City Stories registration states the trademark encompasses “entertainment services” as well as “computer and video games software”.

Prompting further speculation, this trademark filing comes in the wake of Rockstar’s announcement it will launch a new PS4 and Xbox One title before March 2015.

The developer failed to give any details on its upcoming new-gen console title, but did confirm it would land before the end of this financial year.

Although the developer was directly asked whether the game would be announced at the E3 2014 gaming conference next month, it failed to give any specific launch schedules.

“Rockstar has not announced if it will be at E3.”

We have speculated whether the upcoming announcement will be GTA related, with the open-world adventure title potentially coming to the PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The announcement could also be Red Dead Redemption 2 related, as there has been rumours a game called Red Dead Rebellion has been in development for a number of years.
